Mission Statement
The Sisterhood is a group with the intention of providing programs/events and social activities for the community that promotes an atmosphere of Torah, education, friendship and an overall sense of unity.
Shavuot Luncheon
The YI sisterhood presents its annual Shavuot Luncheon to celebrate the giving of the Torah. Volunteers are welcome to help plan and organize a unique themed luncheon that is fun for the whole family.
New Members’ Gifts
To welcome our newest members to the shul and the Hollywood community a wonderful gift of a menus box highlighting the "Tastes of Hollywood" is personally delivered to each new family.
Chesed Committee
This group provides assistance to any member of our community who is sick or incapacitated. We arrange meals, do essential shopping, arrange babysitting, provide transportation to doctor’s offices etc. Please e-mail Andy Palmer at andypalmer@att.net or Yael Sobol at yaelsobol@bellsouth.net with the subject: “Chesed Committee” so that we can assist you.
Rosh Hashana
Through the annual Sisterhood Rosh Hashana cards, you can wish the entire Young Israel Congregation a “Shana Tova.”
Bat Mitzvah Program
The Young Israel, under the auspices of the Sisterhood, has a two-part Bat Mitzvah program for sixth-grade girls. Once a month, the girls meet on Shabbat afternoon at the home of Meira Davis, the wife of the Rabbi. One Sunday morning a month the girls and their mothers meet with Rebecca Weinstock, wife of the Assistant Rabbi, and participate in the Matan Mother-Daughter Bat Mitzvah program. The year of study culminates with a celebration at which every Bat Mitzvah makes a presentation about a special woman, an Eishet Chayil, whom she admires.
Hospitality Committee
This group coordinates Shabbat hospitality with our community members for visitors to our shul.
Mishloach Manot Purim Basket Fundraiser
Join this group in planning for our yearly Mishloach Manot Purim basket fundraiser. From deciding the theme, to the creative content, packing, phone tree, and delivering, this is the largest Sistserhood fundraiser of the year. We'd love to have you join the fun, no commitment is too small!
