Do I need to register if I only want to watch the competition?
No, registration is for contestants only. To watch, visit yih.org/live after 6:10 PM on Monday, May 11.
How many rounds will there be?
There will be one round, using the ingredients provided to you plus your own pantry.
How long will the program last?
You will have 30 minutes to prepare the dish. We expect the entire event, from intro to winner announcement, to be done by 7:30 PM.
There's no way for the judge to taste what we make. How will our dishes be judged?
Naomi Nachman, The Aussie Gourmet, will interview each contestant to learn what went into the dish and how it was prepared. She will judge each dish based on the interview and the presentation. If there are so many entries that there won't be enough time to interview everyone individually, some finalists will be chosen based on presentation, and then those finalists will be interviewed to determine the winner
Are we required to work independently?
No. Others in your household may help you during the competition. However, it is not permitted to get help from anyone else by phone, email, or any other method of communication. It is also not permitted to search online or in recipe books. All creations must be spontaneous.
Can multiple people in the same house compete against each other?
Yes. Just keep in mind that they will be sharing the same kitchen and supplies, and also seeing each other's work. If you sign up twice or three times, we will give you 2 or 3 ingredients packages. If possible, please have each contestant connect to the event from a different device so they can present their dishes independently.
How will we know where to pick up our ingredients and how to join via Zoom?
You will receive detailed instructions via email after you register for the event.
